Prints on sale during the World Cup

To fund the continued work on this project, selected prints by the photographer showing daily life in My (Art) Burg locations will be available during the World Cup at special prices from Boekehuis bookshop in Melville/Auckland Park, starting on June 5, 2010.

The photographs, which are also available directly from the photographer Eva-Lotta Jansson, are printed on canvas so that they can easily and safely be packed in a suitcase by overseas visitors. The canvas prints are also available stretch framed for those who want to take them home and put them on the wall here in South Africa.

The bookshop is celebrating 10 years in Johannesburg with a special event on June 5.

Museum says Yes

A fab museum has said yes to hosting My (Art) Burg when it is finished, so that is great. Will post the date as soon as it becomes official...

Nadine Gordimer lends her voice to the project

Today I had a lovely interview with Nobel Laurate Nadine Gordimer for My (Art) Burg. The famous South African writer decided to tell me her memories about the Market Theatre - a Johannesburg place she loves. Can't wait to share this interview with you at the exhibition.

Dancing lines

Was inspired this evening by seeing David Koloane on TV, a seasoned artist trying something new. Known for his charcoal and pastel drawings of city and township scenes, the artist was challenged to produce digital drawings on a computer, using recorded sounds of the city for inspiration. The result is a video drawing in which Koloane's lines, true to his original style, dance around on the screen, to music and city sounds. (SABC, Right Through the Arts). Koloane is one of the first artists to kindly agree to be interviewed for My (Art) Burg.
